KUALA LUMPUR, MARCH 2019– ANSA Hotel Kuala Lumpur strongly believes in giving back to society and creating awareness to the public. It is one of our duties to care and give back through our company core values which are held throughout the year. As hotel business challenges continue to increase, the intrinsic value of our service and guest satisfaction will continue to expand through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
In the month of March, ANSA Hotel Kuala Lumpur joined forces for the first time with Berjaya Hotels & Resorts (BHR) for their CSR programme. The volunteers, made up of 30 associates from different departments within the hotel and head office arrived at Rumah Kebajikan Baitul Ehsan Al-Khairi Orphanage around 9am and were greeted by the founder of the Orphanage Mr Haji Omar Ab.Ghani as well as the 40 orphan girls aged 6-20 years old.
After a quick introduction about the orphan girls and orphanage home, the hotel associates were divided into a few groups and given tasks accordingly. One group repaired the damaged items around the home which included repairing a leaking ceiling, repainting walls, replacing new fans in the girls’ bedroom and resolving ongoing defects in the bathrooms. In addition to this, associates installed black out curtains in the bedrooms and repaired the bedroom tiles.
Whilst renovations went on the second group of associates bonded with the girls and entertained them with arts & crafts. This was extremely popular and included a colouring competition as well as a group effort to design the CSR poster using handprints which were created with multi-coloured paint.
Following the girls schedule, lunch was served at noon. ANSA and BHR associates were able to serve the orphans a special lunch which was devoured enthusiastically by the girls. The home was delighted when ANSA and BHR associates brought them groceries including rice, cooking oil, toiletries and dry groceries. As the event came to a close, all the girls thanked the hotel associates that came and spent the day with them and made them feel special.
We hope that this little contribution to Rumah Kebajikan Baitul Ehsan Al-Khairi will help to create more awareness among the public about the orphans living in Kuala Lumpur; Mondi Mecja head of Commercial for Berjaya Hotels & Resorts said “The smallest efforts can have the biggest impact on other people’s lives. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing those less fortunate, happy and smiling. Today, the joint efforts of ANSA Hotel Kuala Lumpur and Berjaya Hotels & Resorts HQ associates have created a positive experience for the orphans and we hope to continue our relationship with the orphanage in the future.”
