REIMPOSITION OF TOURISM TAX ON FOREIGN TOURISTS

 

Effective from 1 January 2023, foreign tourists staying at registered accommodation premises in Malaysia are subject to pay a Tourism Tax of RM10 per room per night. The reimposition of Tourism Tax on foreign tourist is mandatory and regulated by the Ministry of Finance Malaysia and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

 

Under the Tourism Tax (Exemption) Order 2017, Malaysians and Permanent Residents with MyPR cards are exempted from paying the Tourism Tax.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 2022 – This year ANSA Hotel Kuala Lumpur has made another step in engaging with the community by giving back to the needy. The hotel holds a strong belief of giving back to society and creating awareness to the public. Aside from this, the hotel carrying this program as part of their duties to care and give back through the company core values which are held throughout the year.

 

In the month of June, ANSA Hotel Kuala Lumpur once again giving its service and charity to Rumah Kebajikan Baitul Ehsan Al Khairi for their CSR program for the second time for this charity home. The volunteers, made up of numbers of associates from different departments within the hotel arrived at Rumah Kebajikan Baitul Ehsan Al Khairi around 10am and were greeted by the founders and members of the charity home. There were about 60 underprivileged girls aged 6 - 20 years old.

 

The event began with the hotel manager’s welcome speech by Ms Low Siew Peng and followed by some handover donation from ANSA Hotel Kuala Lumpur such as essential groceries. The hotel team also served the underprivileged children with delicious lunch and sat down with the girls over some conversation to hear out their stories and shared some motivation support to them.

 

The hotel hope that this little contribution to Rumah Kebajikan Baitul Ehsan Al-Khairi will help to create more awareness among the public about the underprivileged children living in Kuala Lumpur. Today, the effort that ANSA Hotel Kuala Lumpur has created a positive experience for the children and we hope to continue our relationship with the charity home in the future.

 

Rumah Kebajikan Baitul Ehsan Al-Khairi is a non-profit Muslim based organization and was founded in 2008 by Husband and Wife Hj Omar Ab.Ghani and Ummi Azizah Saad as a home to take care and teach orphans. The orphanage houses 40 girls ranging from 6-20 years old where the majority are Malaysian but some too come as far as Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Myanmar and China. Rumah Kebajikan Baitul Ehsan Al-Khairi is located at Jalan Wirawati 6, Maluri, 55100 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
